St Patrick's Day 2012

I'll be honest: I ditched my annual St Patrick's Day meal plan. My chills were so bad that Chris suggested we postpone the Irish dinner I'd planned. So we did what any normal cop family does: we celebrated today instead (a day late). Nevermind that Chris is still on L&I and his schedule has nothing to do with the change of plans. I can still use it as my excuse, right?

So the boys wore their green today, we played Irish music, and I made dinner. This year's menu included Irish stew (vegetarian version), champ (potatoes and scallions), and biscuits. Nothing incredibly fancy, but then again the Irish aren't necessarily known for their cuisine. Dessert was sugar cookies with Key lime icing. Key lime is obviously not Irish; however the icing was green and the lime flavor reminded me of warm weather. Something that I am really needing right now!

In other non-holiday news: Chris has knee surgery tomorrow. I think the next week will be a little on the stressful side, but we'll manage. We always do :)
