Rainier

A few days before Chris' birthday, we had a several-day stretch of 90-plus degree days. We spent most of that time playing in the backyard pool, but one morning we decided it would be fun to head up to Paradise. It was a great way to beat the heat... while it was 90 at home, it was 75 up at the mountain. We packed food for a picnic lunch and headed out.

The boys were hungry when we arrived so we parked and had lunch in the tailgate of the truck with this in the background:
When we were finished eating, we did some hiking on the Nisqually Vista. Thanks to a cool July, the wildflowers were still in full bloom (even the avalanche lilies!). We hiked for a couple of hours before heading back home.

As always, I loved spending time up on our mountain. So happy that it's such a short drive to head up there!
