Heading into Night 3. I left at 1:30pm today and went home for a 3-hour nap and hot bath in the jetted tub. Both were much needed but I'm happy to be back with my little boy. We were initially told there was no pneumonia, however he does have a case of viral pneumonia. A blood test indicated he may have a bacterial infection as well so they started him on IV antibiotics. His blood culture won't be ready for 24-48 hours. It may show if the doctors are missing anything.
His fever is still present and his breathing continues to be labored. He's been on oxygen all day and his pulse was in the 110s when I arrived an hour ago. It's a little higher now since he's playing with his new blocks (gift from the nurse!).
He's using the potty on his own and took his new IV line like a champ. The staff loves him and can't believe how good-natured he is through all of this.
No idea how much longer we'll be here. He's not getting worse so Mary Bridge doesn't appear to be in our future. Just taking things an hour at a time.
