Recess With the Big Kids

My mom's been bugging me for a while to bring the boys to her school so they could play with the big kids at recess. Last week I finally had a chance to head to her school. We picked a nice, sunny Friday, and it also happened to be Popcorn Day so the boys each scored a bag. When we arrived, the primary grades were finishing up on the playground, and then it was time for the older kids to come out. Logan was a little shy and wanted to stick by my side. But Owen, my little Ladies' Man, found himself surrounded by 6th grade girls. And he LOVED all the attention.

They played for thirty minutes and then it was time for everyone to head inside. The boys and I headed over to the library and read a few books, and before we knew it, it was time for the younger kids to go back outside for recess again. By this time, Logan had warmed up and played with the little girls. Owen chose to spend his time with the 3rd grade boys, who were drawing trucks with sidewalk chalk.

Owen also met the kindergarten teacher and impressed her with his counting skills. She said he could probably help teach some of the kids in her class how to count. That's my boy :)

We will try to head back again before school lets out for the summer. Lots of fun!
