Portland Overnighter

Chris had to burn some vacation time so he took several days off just before Thanksgiving. December is going to be a very busy month, so my mom offered to watch the boys so that we could have a couple days to ourselves. We've been wanting to go to Portland, so off we went!

I booked a hotel on hotwire.com (best hotel site, as long as you're okay with the gamble) and we ended up getting a great hotel at a great price. Our itinerary for the trip was strictly limited to Christmas shopping. We shopped until the stores closed the first evening, and shopped all the next day until it was time to head home. We wiped out about 85 percent of our Christmas shopping on that trip, and saved more in coupons/sales tax than what we spent on the hotel and gas. Plus, time alone is always nice.
